How To Make Your Cat Love You

Updated: August 4, 2022 by Kristen Chapple

Ask any cat owner and he’ll tell you that cats resemble us – or vice-versa – in many ways. In fact, their preferences in life are not that much different from ours. Well, at least the basic ones like food, love and affection. All in all, you should learn a few things about how to make your cat love you.

Cats are super smart creatures and you won’t get the chance to fool them. They know what they like and what they don’t and will express that whenever they’ll get a chance to do so.

How to Make Your Cat Love You

If you ever want to have a loving cat, you’ll need to fulfill her basic needs and then a little bit more. Treating your cat like a family member would help the cat to human relationship even more.

Let Them Nap in Peace

Cats love to sleep a lot. And that means up to 16 hours a day. Actually they nap very often for up to 30 minutes at a time. Given the fact that they’re predatory creatures, cats have to preserve their energy over time, so nature equipped them with a napping habit that we can only envy.

They can fall asleep everywhere, and in the funniest positions possible. But no matter how funny they are or how much you want to play with them or rub their belly, don’t disturb your furry friend from their nap. It’s important.

Brush Them and Scratch Them

Cats groom themselves a lot. But they also love to be groomed by their human owners, so every once in a while, do your cat a favor and brush her hair coat. Scratching her will also make wonders for your cat-human relationship.

Don’t worry if it’s the first time you’re doing that, your furry friend will show you how to do it by rubbing on you with the parts of her body where she wants to be scratched. Start by scratching her behind her ears and things will evolve from there.

Get Them Quality Food

We’re sure you love quality food but you should also be sure that cats love quality food as well. So whenever you’re out shopping, don’t underestimate your furry little friend when it comes to food. Look for quality ingredients in both the dry and wet food designed for cats.

Don’t Forget About Playtime

Playtime is an important part of a cat’s life, and not only cats but humans as well. So whenever your cat feels playful, you should take time for that and make her happy. Or at least tired enough so you can get back to whatever it was you were doing when she jumped on your legs, letting you know that it’s playtime.

You’re Not Human – You’re a Cat

Yes, in a cat’s eyes, you’re not a human being, you’re just another cat, only a lot bigger. So act like it. You might think that cats are very independent beings, but they do love showing affection to other fellow cats, and since they see you as one, well, take advantage of that. It’s like an investment in your relationship.
