1. Weruva Paw Lickin’ Chicken Canned Cat Food

I tried the Weruva Paw Lickin’ Chicken in Grain-Free wet food for my beloved cat. I checked the list of ingredients, and I liked what I read.

Chicken is a predominant ingredient, so I have an assurance that my pet is getting quality protein from a meat-based source. However, I also noticed that potato starch is one of the top ingredients.

Pet parents don’t like reading bulk-adding fillers in the first five ingredients because they don’t provide value to the diet of our fur babies.

On a positive note, I didn’t notice any component that may cause allergies to felines. However, it doesn’t mean allergy-prone cats won’t have symptoms when they eat this canned food from Weruva.

If you want a healthy cat, you may want to try the Weruva Paw Lickin’ Chicken. Unlike other pet foods, it has significantly more protein and a moderate amount of carbohydrates.

However, it has less fat and fiber content than average. Generally, felines need food with a higher protein, low carb, and a conservative amount of fat with ample moisture. Paw Lickin’ Chicken has 58 calories for every 100 grams.

I’m happy that Weruva Cats in the Kitchen Pumpkin Lickin’ Chicken has high-quality chicken as its top ingredient. It means that my pet gets its daily protein needs from an excellent source.

However, I read the label and noticed that it has bulk-adding filler in the first five ingredients. Tapioca starch doesn’t provide any value to my pet’s diet; but, I’m glad that this wet food doesn’t have any potential allergens. However, some sensitive cats may still show symptoms when they eat it.

4. Weruva Cats in the Kitchen Love Me Tender Chicken & Duck Recipe

I bought Love Me Tender Chicken and Duck Recipe Cat Food in pouches for my little buddy because it has chicken, tuna, and duck. I strive to give my feline variety in its diet, and I noticed that my pet ate it with enthusiasm.

However, I read the list of ingredients and found that tapioca starch is near the top of the list. In case you don’t know, this type of starch is a bulk-adding filter, and our fur babies don’t need it in their diet.

Moreover, tuna is a possible allergen, so pet parents with cats with food sensitivities can opt to skip this recipe.

5. Weruva Cats in the Kitchen Pumpkin Jack Splash

I like that the Pumpkin Jack Splash from Weruva has tuna as a meat-based source of protein. However, it has tapioca starch as a primary ingredient that doesn’t help our cats because it’s a bulk-adding filler only.

I searched for wet cat food to add variety to my pet’s diet, and I found Weruva Cats in the Kitchen Mack, Jack, and Sam grain-free recipe. I like that it has salmon, tuna, and mackerel as high-quality protein sources. However, the same ingredients are also potential allergens.

Thankfully, my feline doesn’t have any allergic reactions. Another concern that I have is that it has tapioca starch as its top components. This type of starch doesn’t have any value to cats, but it’s a bulk-adding filler only.

7. Weruva Cats in the Kitchen Lamb Burgini

I want my felines to enjoy a variety of recipes because I don’t like them to be excessively picky. I bought Weruva Cats in the Kitchen Lamb Burg-ini because it has lamb.

As I read through the list of ingredients, I discovered that it also has tuna and lamb lung, which are excellent and quality sources of protein.

However, although I didn’t find any bulk-adding fillers or by-products in the list of ingredients, I found guar gum. It’s an additive that may be a contributor to some medical issues in our pets.

Moreover, fish broth, lamb, tuna, and lamb lung are typical potential allergens. Fortunately, my pets aren’t allergic to seafood and lamb.

Specs

  • Grain-free with tuna and lamb as primary ingredients
  • Animal-based protein that cats need
  • Savory gravy
  • A proportional blend of taurine, vitamins, amino acids, and minerals
  • Broth-based nutrition for adequate moisture content

Cons

  • Some cats don’t eat it
  • Smells bad
  • Pate consistency, not broth type
  • Expensive

Your favorite felines may prefer the Lamb Burger-ini from Weruva because it has a delicious gravy that many cats slurp with gusto. As a pet parent, you will like that they are getting more protein than the other canned food available.

It also has a moderate amount of carbs and less fat and fiber. Usually, cats need a high protein, low carbohydrates, and a medium fat diet with ample moisture, so this product from Weruva somehow fits the bill. Moreover, each 100-gram serving has 70 calories, which is fewer than the other wet cat foods.

About Weruva

In 2006, David and Stacie Foreman named Weruva after three of their rescued cats, namely WEbster, RUdi, and VAnessa. They developed luxurious, natural pet food because they couldn’t find quality cat nourishment in the market.

They found quality ingredients and made delectable recipes in a human food facility. Moreover, they use high-quality meat like select beef cuts, whole tuna loins, and white breast chicken. They also include fresh vegetables and other extraordinary ingredients.

The British Retail Consortium certified the processing measures for food preparation. It is a leading certification body for consumer and brand protection. It has the strict standards for each cat meal, so when you buy Weruva products, you’re giving your lovable felines safe and quality nourishment.

Weruva works with a food processing facility in Thailand. It sources its duck and chicken near the manufacturing facility, while the lamb and beef come from New Zealand and Australia. The USA supplies the turkey, while seafood ingredients such as fish, shellfish, and seaweed come from the Pacific Ocean.

Types Of Cat Foods That Weruva Manufactures

Weruva uses real meat with some fruits and vegetables. It doesn’t manufacture dry pet foods, so all its recipes are rich in moisture and are available in cans and pouches.

Weruva Cat Original

  • Classic Cat — Classic Cat has chicken (5) and fish (7) recipes, which has either finely chopped or flaked foods with a meaty texture.
  • Cat Pates — Although these recipes have similar ingredients as the Classic Cat, Cat Pates are available in cans and pouches in pureed texture.
  • Cat Stew — These have extra-juicy meat shreds or chunks in chicken, beef, and turkey. They are available in cans and pouches.

Cats in the Kitchen

  • Originals — These are inspired by the idea of home-cooked family meals. They feature meat chunks, flakes, and shreds, and like the other cat food categories, they are also available in cans and pouches.
  • Pate Pouches — These come in single-serve pouches and available in six recipes named after hit movies in the 1980s.

Truluxe

Truluxe is a premium brand of cat food with expensive meats that aren’t in other Weruva products. It currently has ten canned nourishments for the most discriminating pets.

Ingredients Used By Weruva In Their Cat Foods

Weruva has around 70 cat food products, and each one has a unique set of ingredients to meet the nutritional requirements of our pets. The company uses chicken, chicken broth, salmon, tuna, and natural flavor as its most prevalent ingredients.

It doesn’t use any artificial color because it’s potentially harmful and unnecessary. Moreover, it doesn’t use animal by-products, which may have nutritional value, but using known organ meats is one of the better decisions of Weruva.

Unfortunately, the company uses ocean fish, an anonymous meat ingredient in one of its cat food products. Unknown sources of meat-based ingredients are controversial because no one knows where the manufacturers get them.

Moreover, they are often of low quality and inexpensive. It isn’t commendable if a dry or wet feline food uses anonymous meats. Weruva also doesn’t use grains in their recipes because cats, being carnivores, don’t have any use for them.

Weruva is a topnotch company that doesn’t sacrifice quality over cost savings. It does not have any controversial ingredients in its numerous products.

However, some recipes have harmful components, which can have adverse health effects. These dangerous chemicals include menadione sodium bisulfite and menadione sodium bisulfite complex.

Weruva Cat Foods Recalls

I didn’t find reports about recalls for any Weruva cat foods. However, the BFF brand recalled its Australia-exclusive product line in 2017 because of low thiamine levels. The lack of Vitamin B1 (thiamine) was responsible for hundreds of deaths and illnesses.

Final Thoughts

Weruva is a manufacturer of high-quality cat foods. It offers wet nourishments in cans and pouches because wet food is actually better than kibble because they have the moisture that kitties need.

I reviewed seven products, but I’m recommending its Weruva Paw Lickin’ Chicken. It has a significantly higher protein than the other cat nourishments available in the market.

Moreover, it has ample carbohydrates and fat content and has 58 calories per 100 grams. It has savory gravy that our felines will slurp with gusto.
